Where we train

Before embarking on a programme of exercise, we carry out a comprehensive health assessment, which ensures that we have not only a record of your medical history but also a number of baseline measurements. These are all non-invasive and include blood pressure, hydration levels, bone mineral mass and body composition. This information can be used to:

  • Track and fine-tune your individual fitness programme by monitoring muscle mass and Basal Metabolic Rate changes
  • Guide you in achieving your desired physique/body shape
  • Monitor the impact of a diet on the body
  • Give an indication of any risk factors, e.g. diabetes, heart disease

Following your health assessment, we have a chat about your goals – whether you want to get fitter, lose weight, get stronger, rehabilitate or something completely different, Bodyprojects can help!

Programme design

We use the very latest IT hardware and personal training software to not only capture, analyse and store client data but also to help design individually tailored programmes to ensure that your health and fitness goals are achieved in a realistic and sustainable way. A laptop and portable printer ensure that you can personally track your progress visually at any time.

At Bodyprojects, we can help you make the most of the time that you have put aside from your busy life for exercise, as well as help motivate you, help you with technique, monitor your progress, adjust your exercise programme in response to your changing fitness level, and offer alternative exercise options to keep up your enjoyment level.

Training equipment

In order to be able to provide the best possible personal training service, we have a large range of portable training equipment. Below is just a sample of what we use.

BOSU balance training equipment
Fundamental to improving overall health and fitness is core stability i.e. strengthening of core muscles using balance and co-ordination movements.

The BOSU Integrated Balance Trainer is a unique balance, core stability and proprioception training device that can be integrated with all types of fitness training, or stand alone as an outstanding functional tool.

The BOSU can be used for or with sports conditioning (both aerobic & anaerobic); agility training; strength, stability & flexibility training for the entire body.

Stability balls
The stability balls differ from the BOSU equipment since they offer a different variety of exercises and potentially target different audiences depending on the exercise requirement and level of ability e.g. rehabilitation, older adults.

Medicine balls
Medicine ball training, in conjunction with a program of weight training and circuit training, can be used to develop strength and power. Certain medicine ball exercises can also be used as part of a plyometric training program to develop explosive movements. Medicine ball training is appropriate to all levels of ability, age, development and sport.

Powerbags
The Powerbag provides a crossover between lifting, medicine ball work and core stability training. Training with the Powerbag teaches the body to use its core stabilisers effectively, so that the transfer of energy during even the most complex movement patterns can take place effectively.

Stepper
Stepping is a great way to get a toning workout and really sculpt your thighs and bum, while raising your heart rate to give you a cardio workout burning those calories.

Boxing exercise imageBoxing gloves and pads
Boxing using gloves and pads is a great way to exercise not only because it is lots of fun but it also conditions the whole body and provides a complete workout for your cardiovascular and endurance systems. It can help to improve stamina, strength, speed and co-ordination.

Reebok Deck weights bench plus adjustable resistance tubes
A weights bench supports all primary exercise positions (step, flat bench, incline/decline bench and seat) thus providing endless whole body workout options.

Gliding discs
This system uses small discs that adopt a sliding motion that engages muscles through a full range to strengthen and lengthen the major muscle groups of the entire body.

Gymstick

GYMSTICK is a new fitness tool which was developed to effectively train total body fitness and it is ideal for improving cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance, balance and flexibility, muscle toning, fat loss and coordination.

Exercise mats
Essential for a wide range of fitness activities.

Free weights
Using free weights is effective way of improving strength and fitness. Lifting weights improves
fitness while it burns calories, increases muscle size, strength, power and endurance. It also
increases bone density and improves quality of life for many older adults.

Heart rate monitor
Heart monitors are devices that are designed for wear during strenuous exercise, and serve the purpose of measuring and recording your heart rate, while giving you instant feedback about the work level of your heart. The fitness of the heart is the key to one's aerobic endurance. Heart monitors are one of the most effective aids for tracking and developing your progress on the path to increased aerobic endurance.

In addition, at our home in Middlewich, we have a fully commercial rated Schwinn IC Elite Spinning Cycle and First Degree Fluid S500 Rower, as well as a York Elliptical Trainer. If you are happy to come to us, all of these pieces of equipment (along with those described above) can be incorporated into your exercise programme.

Who we train

The simple answer is anyone and everyone! Our philosophy is that fitness and good health is for all. So, whoever you are, whatever your age, we are more than happy to help. And don’t worry if you would prefer to get fit and healthy in a group rather than one-to-one …..we can do that!

We’ll also look after you if:

    • you require exercise rehabilitation
    • have been referred for a programme of exercise by your GP
    • would like exercise and nutritional advice because you suffer from diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, asthma, bone disease or any other diagnosed medical condition
    • would like some lifestyle counselling and weight management advice
    • would like some nutritional advice and healthy eating plans
    • you’re a parent wanting to get the kids exercising and having fun at the same time
    • need an exercise survival guide to help get you prepared for
      • a holiday
      • a wedding
      • a new challenge e.g. running a fun run or a marathon

And there’s more. . . we will shortly be offering a sports massage service, provided by Dr Jacqui Coutts – more details to follow soon!

Where we train

Another simple answer! At Bodyprojects, we understand that everyone is different and that goes for where we prefer to exercise. Gym environments can be a little intimidating for some of us and so we prefer the privacy of our own home in which to train. Not a problem! As mentioned earlier, Bodyprojects is equipped with an extensive range of portable exercise equipment and so we are more than happy to come to you. Oh, and we don’t take up much space! As mentioned above, we are more than happy for you to train with us here at our home in Middlewich. The additional use of a spinning bike, rower and elliptical trainer ensures that you get even more variety in your programmes!

Alternatively, through arrangement with local gyms, we provide you with the opportunity to train using the very latest cardiovascular, strength and core stability equipment. This includes treadmills, bikes, cross trainers, rowers, static and free weights. So if you feel like joining the crowd, that’s fine!

And don’t forget the great outdoors! OK, the weather’s sometimes unpredictable but there’s nothing better than getting fit in the fresh air. Using the natural surroundings combined with some of our mobile equipment we can create fun exercise programmes for everyone – you’d be amazed what we can do with a park bench!

Finally, we hope to introduce an online personal training service which will offer you the flexibility to train in your own time. We do this by providing individually designed exercise and nutrition programmes as well as ongoing advice and encouragement via a secure, personal online account.
