homepage->what about you?
Call us naïve, but we think that everyone wants to be fit and healthy! Before we can help, we need to understand what it is you would really like to achieve.
I want. . .
to look and feel better
The simple fact is that if you would like to not only feel better but look better, just mix a little exercise into your life as often as you can. At Bodyprojects, we can help you understand how to get the exercise bug in no time at all. Before you know it, you’ll be coming back for more!

to lose weight
It’s important to understand that, in reality, losing weight is not usually an easy task for most people. It takes effort and determination and if you have both those things then you should be able to succeed. The bottom line is that we have to get this simple equation right:
Calories IN < Calories OUT |
If you burn more calories than you consume, your body will then turn to the stored fat for its fuel, and then you will see the weight come off. We’ll show you how a mixture of exercise and healthy eating can help slim you down!

to tone up
Did you know that every one of us already has toned muscles? The problem is that we often can’t see the lovely sculptured shape of our muscles because they have a layer of fat covering them. So, the simple truth is that we have to burn that pesky fat away! In other words, we have to make sure that we burn more calories than we consume.
Toned muscles aren’t necessarily big muscles but making the effort will mean you have strong muscles. Strong muscles are firmer, they look better and they help avoid potentially debilitating bone and joint injuries. Doing strength training exercises can increase your lean body mass (the non-fat parts of your body), which raises your metabolic rate, so helping with weight management.

to feel stronger
If it were easy to build muscle, everyone would do it, right? The truth is that it's both hard and easy! The easy part about building muscle is that there are no secrets to how it's done. The techniques are tried and tested and have been used and refined over the years. Now, here’s the hard part! There are no short cuts - if you want to build muscle you have to work hard and eat right, and be consistent in both for an extended period of time.
Challenging your muscles with strength training (also called resistance training) exercises 2 or 3 times each week is all that is needed to improve the strength and tone of your muscles – and gain you several long-term health benefits! Let us help you by individually designing an exercise programme that will work all your major muscle groups.

to get fitter
Did you know that there are three main components involved in attaining a good overall fitness? They are cardiovascular training (for fat loss), strength training (for improving muscle tone) and stretching exercises (to improve flexibility). So, ideally, we need to include a little bit of all three if we are to get ourselves fitter. As you can see, there’s a bit more to this fitness stuff than meets the eye! But look at it this way - think of all the variety you will have in your workouts. So why not let us do the ground work whilst you look forward to the range of programmes we’ll offer you?

to be more flexible
We mentioned flexibility as being one of the 3 key elements of good overall fitness. Of the three, this is the one that is most often ignored. However, there are very good reasons that you should make if a part of your workout program.
Flexibility is reasonably easy to acquire, but at the same time, it's easy to lose. So making this a regular part of your exercise regime is really important and will have several effects - you'll feel better, perform better and get injured less.
At Bodyprojects, we’re happy to bend over backwards to help!

better health
If you want to improve your overall health, then exercise is one of the keys to physical and mental wellbeing. Studies show that being overweight or obese is a leading cause of illnesses such as type II diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. Being active helps control weight by using extra calories that would have been stored as fat. Also, if we are active, we tend to have more energy.
If you have a diagnosed medical condition such as diabetes or high blood pressure, we can work with your GP to ensure that you are prescribed the best possible exercise and nutrition programmes to help you towards a healthier lifestyle.

more energy
A common misconception is that the more energy you burn up, the more tired you will feel. In reality, you will actually feel like you have more energy! Confused? It’s simple really - by burning more calories, you increase your metabolism and increasing your metabolism makes you feel more energetic!

to feel less tired
Zzzzzzz. . . just feel like falling asleep all the time? Well, we can turn that into a good thing! Confused again? Well, this is related to the energy levels we talked about before – exercise helps you sleep better, so it can actually make you feel less tired. Got it?

to chill out
Planned relaxation calms anxiety and helps your body and mind recover from everyday rush and stress. Music, a long soak in the bath or a walk in the park does the trick for some people, but for others it's not so easy.
Many doctors prescribe exercise as a first course of action in the treatment of stress-related conditions since physical activity helps to relieve the symptoms of anxiety. At Bodyprojects, we can offer the best advice to help chill you out

to be motivated
Hey, that’s our job! We will help set your goals, monitor how you’re getting on and give you all the support, encouragement and motivation you need. What’s more, the greater success you have in achieving your goals, the more motivated you will become – that’s a fact!

a flat stomach
Ah, everyone’s desire. . . for the men, a rippling six pack and for the women, a flat, sculptured middle. It has been defined as one of the most problematic areas on a person's body and it seems everyone is obsessed with flattening it.
Unfortunately many people think they can eat whatever they want and get a flat stomach by performing 250 crunches per day to burn off the extra fat and calories. That's probably the biggest myth around. Unfortunately, we can't choose where our bodies will burn fat, so we have to keep on working the whole body in order to lose it. A lean midsection takes a combination of good nutrition, cardiovascular conditioning, and abdominal training. Those who see the best results combine all three.
